Track USPS shipments with 17Tracking. Number formats, coverage and what to do when a USPS parcel stops updating.

Quick check: USPS numbers usually look like 9400111899223197428490. Paste it into the search box on the home page — the carrier is detected automatically.

What USPS tracking numbers look like

  • 20–22 digits starting with 94 / 92
  • 13 characters ending in US (e.g. EC…US)

Example: 9400111899223197428490. Formats vary between service levels, so if your number does not match any of the patterns above, it may still be valid — try it anyway.

Coverage and typical delivery times

United States domestic mail and international outbound parcels, usually delivered within 2–6 business days.

Practical tips

USPS numbers starting with 94 are the most common. If the seller shipped via a consolidator, the domestic USPS number may only appear after the parcel clears customs.

How to track a USPS parcel

  1. Copy the tracking number from your order page, shipping email or receipt.
  2. Paste it into the 17Tracking search box — no need to select the carrier.
  3. If the first data source returns nothing, switch to the other one above the results. For USPS we usually recommend 17TRACK.
  4. Read the timeline from the newest event down, and check the status guide for anything unfamiliar.

No result yet?

USPS shipments commonly take 24–72 hours to show their first scan after the label is created. Check for typos, extra spaces and dropped characters. If the number still returns nothing after three days, ask the seller to confirm that the parcel has actually been dispatched.
